On Sunday, June 2, 2002, the Betty
Ferguson Foundation will host their second-annual Woman-of-Honor Dinner at the
Hyatt Valencia. This year’s honoree is local businesswoman and philanthropist
Roberta Veloz. Ms. Veloz is CEO of the Aquafine Corporation, and has dedicated her In 1998, Ms. Veloz was the SCV Woman of the Year. In 1999, College of the
Canyons honored her with their Silver Spur Award, and in 2000, the State of
California 36th District named her Woman of the Year. The events for the evening will include dinner, an award presentation,
entertainment and a silent auction. The Betty Ferguson Foundation is a nonprofit organization
whose purpose is to
train, develop and empower women and youth to be a vital force in society. The
foundation operates at a high level of commitment through seminars, workshops,
book clubs, educational scholarships and community service, and by participation
in many local projects, including workshops presented in conjunction with
COC’s New Horizons/CalWORKS Department, raising funds for local people in need
and support of other local nonprofit organizations. Sponsorships are available for this event. The Betty Ferguson Foundation intends to recognize the companies supporting the event. Sponsorships available include: Legacy Table - $5,000; Tribute Table - $1,500; Individual Seats - $100.
